## Air Serbia (flagship, flights from Moscow, Istanbul, Dubai to Belgrade)

Air Serbia accepts animals **only in the cabin**. They do not go into the cargo hold.
### What you need to know about the pet
- **Age** - minimum 12 weeks.
- **Weight** - pet + carrier ≤ 8 kg (≈ 17 lb).
- **Carrier dimensions** - no larger than 40 × 30 × 24 cm (L × W × H).
- No signs of aggression.
### The carrier must:
- Have a ventilation mesh.
- Close securely so it does not open accidentally.
- Have a waterproof bottom.
### How to book
The number of pets per flight is limited, so **be sure to book in advance** through the Customer Service Team, specifying the type of animal, weight, and carrier dimensions. Online check-in for pet transport is unavailable - handle everything at the airport counter.
### Documents
A valid rabies vaccination and entry documents for the destination country are required (for Serbia - see the article "How to import a dog/cat into Serbia").
## Wizz Air (not an option for most)
Source: [wizzair.com](https://wizzair.com/) - official animal transport policy.
Wizz Air **does not accept animals** either in the cabin or in the cargo hold. The only exception is official service dogs (assistance dogs) for passengers with disabilities. Emotional support animals are not included in this category.
If your Wizz Air flight to Belgrade (from Budapest, London, Vienna, etc.) carries a pet, it will be transported by a separate airline.
## Alternatives for routes from Russia/Ukraine
Direct flights from Russia to Serbia are usually unavailable - connections go through hubs:
- **Istanbul** (Turkish Airlines) - up to 8 kg in the cabin, up to 75 kg in cargo.
- **Dubai** (Emirates) - cargo only, not accepted in the cabin.
- **Belgrade via Air Serbia** - from Istanbul, Moscow (when operating), Tivat, Tel-Aviv.
- **EU hubs** (Vienna, Frankfurt, Amsterdam) - Lufthansa, Austrian, KLM accept animals in the cabin and/or cargo.
When transferring, make sure the carrier meets the requirements of **all** airlines involved in the itinerary.
## Preparation for the flight
1. **2-3 months before departure** - rabies vaccination (minimum 21 days before titer, titer taken 3 months before departure).
2. **One month before** - book the flight, indicating the pet.
3. **10 days before** - obtain the veterinary certificate for the departure country.
4. **24 hours before** - feed as usual, give a portion of water, **do not give sedatives** without airline approval (some airlines forbid them - the dog must be conscious so pilots can verify it is okay).
5. **At the counter** - arrive 1.5-2 hours before departure with the carrier.
