Frequently asked questions
How much is apartment rent in Belgrade?
A studio in central Belgrade is €500-650, a one-bedroom €700-900, a two-bedroom €1000-1500. Outer districts (Novi Beograd, Zemun) are 30-40% cheaper. Novi Sad and Niš are 20-40% below Belgrade. Prices as of summer 2026.
Where do I look for housing in Serbia?
SerbiaHub collects listings from Serbian classifieds sites and Telegram chats — deduplicated and translated into Russian, English and Serbian. Filter by district, price, furniture, pets and deal type (rent or sale).
Do I need a rental contract for a residence permit?
Yes. A residence permit (boravak) requires a rental contract in Serbian (or a notarised translation) plus address registration (beli karton) filed by the landlord with the police within 24 hours of moving in.
What deposit is usual when renting?
Usually one month's rent. Some landlords ask for two months (especially from foreigners), but that is negotiable. It is returned when you move out if the flat is in order.
What do utilities include?
Basics: electricity (struja), gas or heating in winter (grejanje), water and internet. Sometimes part of it is included in the rent, sometimes not — ask. In winter utilities can add €80-150 to the rent.
Can I rent with a dog or a cat?
SerbiaHub has a “pets allowed” filter. Roughly 15% of 20 000+ housing listings allow animals; an extra deposit is often required.
