Grošaničko jezero

Lake

Description

Grošaničko Lake Grošaničko Lake is an artificial lake on the Grošanička River built for the purpose of supplying drinking water to Kragujevac. In the period when it was built, in 1938, it was the largest artificial lake in the Balkans. It is managed as the First Zone of Sanitary Protection, so swimming, fishing and similar activities are not allowed, but the lake and the area around it are pleasant for walking and resting in the form of excursions. The lake is located ten kilometers from Kragujevac and although it is rich in greenery and trees, it is not a frequent target of visitors. The reason for this is that a large number of people do not know about the existence of this lake, and those who know are familiar with its purpose, so it does not have a great tourist attraction. The small number of visitors is the reason for the lush flora of this place, which is reflected in the lake and gives it a brilliant emerald color. Another name of the lake is Vodojaža, derived from the words pregradi and water.
