Description
Prljuša archaeological site The site of Prljuša on Rudnik is under the protection of the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments in Kraljevo. Given that it represents an important historical building, it was declared an immovable cultural property of the Republic of Serbia. The locality of Prljuša is located directly below the peak of Mali Šturac, the lowest peak of Rudnik, on its southwestern slope on a bare part of the slope with an area of 2.5 ha without vegetation. The archaeological site is a prehistoric copper mine with visible traces of old works. Malachite, rock crystal and gray-green crystalline slates occur on the surface of the site. Both raw materials were used by the Neolithic inhabitants of the central Balkans for the production of tools. The whole slope is covered with a large slag, in which there are prehistoric stone mining clubs with a groove. Geophysical tests have shown that the area is rich in mining and mining shafts.
