## Car Insurance in Serbia

### Mandatory Insurance (OSO)

OSO - obavezno osiguranje od autoodgovornosti (the Serbian equivalent of CTP). The policy covers damage caused to third parties, and without it, you cannot register a car or drive it. The cost is calculated based on the engine power, age, and driving experience of the driver, as well as the bonus-malus system. As a rule, the policy is issued for a year.

### Casco (kasko) - Voluntary

Casco protects your own vehicle from accidents caused by your fault, theft, natural disasters, and vandalism. Two levels of coverage are available:

- **partial (delimično kasko)** - individual risks are covered (e.g., glass or natural disasters);
- **full (potpuno kasko)** - the widest possible coverage.

Casco is not required for registration and is issued at the owner's discretion.

### Green Card (zelena karta)

To leave Serbia, a "green card" is required in almost any country. It is issued by an insurance company in addition to OSO.

### Where to Get

The policy can be obtained at the offices of insurance companies, and often immediately at the vehicle inspection point when registering the car. You will need:

- saobraćajna dozvola (vehicle registration) or vehicle data;
- owner's passport/id card.
