## Education System
- **Primary School (osnovna škola)** - 8 years, age 6.5-14.5 years, compulsory.
- **Secondary School (srednja škola)** - 3-4 years, gymnasiums or vocational schools.
- Academic year - September to June.
## Public Schools
Education is free for everyone, including foreigners with a residence permit, and is conducted in Serbian. If a child does not yet speak the language, an adaptation program (up to 2 years) is provided. Enrollment in schools opens in April-May for September.

- Parent's passport + residence permit.
- Child's birth certificate (apostille + translation).
- Medical certificate.
- Transcript from previous school (nostrification through MUP - Ministarstvo prosvete).

## Nostrification (Recognition of Foreign Education)
1. Submit documents to Ministarstvo prosvete ([mpn.gov.rs](https://mpn.gov.rs)).
2. Required documents: diploma/transcript with apostille and translation.
3. Processing time - 1-3 months.
4. Cost ≈ 10,000 RSD (≈ 85 €).
5. After nostrification, the child is assigned to the corresponding class.
