Education System
- Primary School (osnovna škola) - 8 years, age 6.5-14.5 years, compulsory.
- Secondary School (srednja škola) - 3-4 years, gymnasiums or vocational schools.
- Academic year - September to June.
Public Schools
Education is free for everyone, including foreigners with a residence permit, and is conducted in Serbian. If a child does not yet speak the language, an adaptation program (up to 2 years) is provided. Enrollment in schools opens in April-May for September.

- Parent's passport + residence permit.
- Child's birth certificate (apostille + translation).
- Medical certificate.
- Transcript from previous school (nostrification through MUP - Ministarstvo prosvete).

- No international schools, but private Serbian schools exist.

Nostrification (Recognition of Foreign Education)
- Submit documents to Ministarstvo prosvete (mpn.gov.rs).
- Required documents: diploma/transcript with apostille and translation.
- Processing time - 1-3 months.
- Cost ≈ 10,000 RSD (≈ 85 €).
- After nostrification, the child is assigned to the corresponding class.
