Manastir Jošanica

Jošanica Monastery The Jonašica Monastery is located 10 km from Jagodina, in the gorge of the river of the same name at the foot of the Crni vrh mountain, and is a cultural monument of great importance. It is dedicated to Saint Nicholas and has a rich history. The monastery consists of a church, a wooden bell tower, two inns that were built during the 18th and 19th centuries, two large ponds, stables and an old mill. Within the monastery is the family tomb of Prince Miloj Teodorović, as well as a monument to Serbian warriors from the wars of 1912-1918. year. The church was originally dedicated to St. Demetrius, has a single nave base, a semicircular apse to the east and two domes. Its earlier painting was covered with plaster in the 19th century, and on the northern wall of the chancel you can see the remains of portraits of the rulers.
