When Russians Need a D Visa Instead of Visa-Free Entry

The visa-free regime allows staying in Serbia for up to 90 days within a six-month period. If you plan to stay longer-whether for work, study, family reunification or starting a business-you will need a national D visa.

If you are already in the country under the visa-free regime and decide to extend your stay, you will have to leave and obtain a D visa at the consulate in advance. Exception: submitting documents for temporary or permanent residence (VNZ/PMŽ) without leaving the country-in this case the D visa can be obtained through local authorities.
