Current Situation with Slots (2026)
- Booking only through email, no free slots available.
- When asked in April 2026 they answer: "write in mid-May".
- In May they give slots for the end of April next year.
- The last available slots were issued for July-August.
- Waiting time for a slot - 3-6 months from the request date.
- Replies to emails are fast: the same day or the next day.
How to Request a Slot
Send a free-form letter to consular.belgrade@gov.si and include:
- Full names of all travelers
- Passport numbers
- Dates of birth
- Intended travel dates
- Purpose of the trip
Required Documents
The full list is sent in the email confirming the slot. Below are the main items.
- Passport with a valid Serbian residence permit (at least 3 months after the end of the trip).
- Application form - can be filled online or in PDF (link is sent in the slot email).
- One recent photograph (not taken at the embassy).
- Tourist insurance of at least 30 000 EUR.
- Accommodation confirmations - paid hotel/apartment bookings.
- Transport documents - tickets or, if traveling by car, saobraćajna dozvola + copies of the driver's licence.
- Financial documents (see below).
- Work certificate or self-employment documents.
- For children - school/kindergarten certificate.
- Itinerary sheet in free form.
Particulars for Filling the Application
- Item 11 (identity number) can be left blank or you can put the Russian passport number.
- Item 20 - enter the Serbian residence permit number.
- The form can be filled by hand with a black pen; if you forget something, correct it.
Translation Requirements
- Documents in Latin script (Serbian) - no translation needed.
- Documents in Cyrillic - court-certified translation into Serbian or Slovenian required.
- Russian documents - double translation: Russian → Serbian → Slovenian.
- Criminal record certificate must be Serbian, not older than 3 months.
Financial Documents
For Employees
- Salary certificate for the last 3 months.
- Bank statement showing transactions for 3 months.
- Account balance certificate with the bank's stamp.
For Self-Employed (IP)
- Extract from APR (can be printed from the site pretraga.apr.gov.rs).
- Business account statement for 3 months.
- Account balance certificate.
Minimum Balance Required
If one family member covers the expenses of the others, a free-form letter is enough (you can draft it with ChatGPT), together with the sponsor's financial documents, a copy of their passport and marriage certificate (with translation) for spouses. Notarisation is not required.
Fees and Processing Times
Visa Fees
- Adults - 90 EUR (cash in euros only).
- Children up to 6 years - free.
- Children 6-18 years - 45 EUR.
Processing Times
- Standard - 14 days (2 weeks day-by-day).
- Occasionally - up to 3 weeks.
- After 2 weeks they call exactly at 11:30.
- Collection - Monday-Thursday 10:00-12:00 (Fridays are closed).
Passport
- They keep the passport for the whole processing period.
- If needed you can ask to get the passport back temporarily (for urgent matters) and return it later.
- Once the visa is received, the hand-over takes about an hour.
Types of Visas
Tourist (C)
- Valid strictly for the travel dates, short window - up to 23 days.
- In 90 % of cases a single entry.
- On the second or third application they sometimes grant 2 entries.
Multi-Visa
- Issued extremely rarely.
- One case - multi-visa 90/90 days on the first application (exception).
- Usually after the 3-4-th application they may offer a six-month multi-visa.
- For obtaining a multi-visa it is better to approach Italian consulates.
National Visa (D) - Digital Nomad Programme (from 21 November 2025)
- Required income - 3 300 EUR per month per person.
- Duration - 1 year (extension not possible, but you can switch to another residence permit type).
- Family can reunite immediately.
- No taxes are paid in Slovenia.
- Work is allowed only not for Slovenian companies.

What Increases Approval Chances
- Paid bookings - the "fully paid" requirement appears in recent emails.
- Stable income - show account movement for 3 months.
- Connection to Serbia - job, studies, family in Serbia.
- For repeat applications - attach receipts from previous trips to Slovenia.
Itinerary and Countries
- You can include other Schengen countries, but the majority of days must be spent in Slovenia (e.g., 5 out of 9).
- Through Croatia you can enter with a single-entry Slovenian visa.
- Indicate the entry country in the application if you do not fly directly to Slovenia.
When Submitting Documents
- The photo from the application is usually scanned; they may not take the physical one.
- Biometrics are taken not always (they are valid for 5 years).
- Keep each applicant's documents in a separate folder.
- Excess papers are usually returned.
Changes in Bookings
- Mandatory to inform the embassy of any changes before travel.
- Cancellation of bookings may lead to visa cancellation.
- It is better to change plans after you have entered the EU.

Can I apply with unpaid bookings?
Previously - yes, now they require "fully paid". Rare approvals without payment exist, but the risk is high.
Are international driving licences needed?
No, Serbian licences are valid in the EU. For a car you need a saobraćajna dozvola.
Do borders inside the Schengen area check visas?
Sometimes they conduct spot checks, especially at the Slovenia-Italy border.
Can one person collect passports for the whole family?
Yes, when applying as a family one person can pick up all passports.
What about the new EES system (from October 2025)?
Biometrics and photos are checked at borders, and additional queues may appear.
How many times can I apply to Slovenia?
