Medical insurance (DMS) for residence permit

## Why It Is Needed

A private health insurance policy (DMS) - an essential part of the document package for a residence permit (ВНЖ). It is issued for one year, even if you plan to obtain a 3-year residence permit or permanent residence. This is a separate product, not to be confused with the state health insurance (ОМС, health card), which is arranged after receiving the residence permit.

## Where to Apply

The most popular insurance companies: **Dunav, Wiener, Generali, Triglav, UNIQA, DDOR**.

For a "minimal" package for a residence permit, people usually choose the cheapest options:

- **Dunav** - approximately 13 000 RSD per year, coverage about 150 €. Often taken only to obtain the residence permit.
- **Wiener** - around 90 € per year, coverage about 1 000 €. For a comparable price it offers a broader set of services (more doctor visits, included analyses and diagnostics), so the price/coverage ratio looks more advantageous.
- **Generali** - suitable if you need a more reliable level of coverage, not just "for the residence permit".

## How to Apply (Dunav Example)

1. Take your passport and the "бели картон".
2. Go to the office; the process takes about 15 minutes.
3. Pay with a local bank card or cash.
4. Receive two copies of the policy: keep one for yourself, submit the other together with the documents for the residence permit (if you apply offline).

## Important

This **DMS** - private insurance required for obtaining a residence permit. The state health insurance is arranged after the residence permit is granted. Check the exact rates and coverage conditions with the chosen insurance company, as they may change.
