## What It Is
A **boravak certificate** (uverenje o boravku) is a document confirming that you reside and are registered at a specific address. It serves as an equivalent to a "propiska" (residence registration) and replaces the white card (beli karton) once you have a residence permit (ВНЖ).
## Where It Is Required
- Changing your non-resident status to resident at a bank (main case)
- Adding your residence permit number to an individual entrepreneur (ИП)
- Certificate of no criminal record
- Obtaining health insurance (zdravstvena kartica)
- Occasionally - when renewing a driver's license or dealing with tax authorities
## How to Obtain It
- **In person only**, issued immediately on-site.
- In Belgrade, you must schedule an appointment in advance via email; in other cities, simply visit your local MUP office.
- You cannot obtain it while your residence permit is in process (initial application or renewal) - wait until you receive the card first.
- Only available in the city where you are registered.
- Fee: 420 + 420 RSD (application fee + issuance fee), payable via eUprava.
## Important Nuance
Request the certificate **with two dates** (od/do) - showing the start and end of each residence permit. This is necessary to open a resident bank account after one year of living with a residence permit and to calculate residency duration for permanent residency (ПМЖ) to ensure there are no gaps between permits.
